Gray learned how to work with leather by studying under 3 leathersmiths in Asheville as a shop apprentice for one whole year after college at UNC Asheville. Here, he learned how to saddle-stitch, restore vintage leather and create one-of-a-kind customs. Now, he calls Spartanburg home where he lives with his partner and pets, continuing the practice of leathersmithing for the past 7 years. Together, they have a small homestead and Gray continues to push his leatherworking skills with each new, unique leather project. From bags and belts, to custom knife sheaths and masks, every new project is a creative endeavor that Gray sees as an opportunity to grow as a smith and artist.
